Okay, I know it’s a little thing but I’ve really got to say this bluetooth Mac Mouse... ROCKS!!!! For real, no joke it reminder of the the old school roller ball mouse. If you think back to the old mouse that had the track ball underneath you’ll remember that it always tracked everything very well. Well this mouse has a great feel, it’s not that I don’t use an optical mouse for PC’s I do. I’ve actually spent about $90.00 bucks on a Microsoft mouse so that I could buy something that. A. Lasted a long time & B. made navigating around the screen easier and they did, but I gotta say this bad boy set a whole new standard for the way I think a mouse should operate. If you look at the picture you’ll see a small gray dot. That’s a track ball that will enable you to move the screen up and down, again hard to put a finger on it (ahhhh, get it? of course its easy to put a finger on it - but I meant it figuratively, not literally..... anyway) but it makes the whole Apple experience that much more smoother and more importantly user friendly.
Small I know but when you stop and think about it for the amount you use a mouse while you use a computer (either MAC or PC), it’s actually not that small.

NO STRINGS ATTACHED:
So here is the number one thing I’ve discovered about the MacBook, it’s called connectivity. I spent a week downtown on Western Avenue and Putney Road trying to get this thing not to connect easily. Couldn’t do it. I started at Brueger’s they offer free WiFi and other than the gyrations you have to go through to use it on their end I literally (from the MAC prospective) pointed and clicked and was on. I moved my show to Mocha Joes later that day and was given several options. Secured connections aside I was able to connect seamlessly to each and every one of them. Now I’m going out to Puntey road and try and Pirate someone’s signal, once again success! Western Ave, same thing wherever there was not a secured signal I was able to connect with zero problem, and I do mean zero problem. So here’s the part I didn’t tell you, I brought my faithful old PC laptop, it too offered me connectivity from half these locations that I tried with the MACBOOK (I was not able to connect with anything on Western Ave however). I’m sure that if I stuck with it long enough that I could have gotten the PC to eventually connect – but in this day and age when you’re stealing band width to check your e-mail… well, who’s got that kind of time DISCLAIMER: I do not condone the stealing of bandwidth or someone else internet services, I was strictly conducting a study – it was purely for scientific reasons.
Well what can I say – The MacBook had it hands down over the PC for getting connected to the internet. We’ll talk again!

So I was walking around downtown the other day and saw somebody using their Macbook. I decided to say hi and ask questions because he looked like he'd been a Mac user for a while. As it turns out he only got his Mac about a year ago and was loving it. He too was a big PC user but got tired of the "blue screen" you get with PC. I honestly didn't get that many blue screens but I know they're out there. We continued to chat for a while and I said to him you look like you've been using a Mac for a lot longer than a year, he said he got that a lot and it was probably from the amount of stickers that he plastered all over the front it.
Well that made me think, I've never put a sticker on a computer before. I don't really put them on anything but if this is part of the Mac culture, then I had no choice – when in Rome… I thought I would go political – NO, I thought Professional Sports Team allegiance – NO, then it hit me – go local! You can buy Mac's on-line but why would you? I would have never gotten a Mac if I couldn't pick up the phone and get some local support. So why not let folks know where I got my Macbook, I should be pretty easy to identify on the street (see the picture). Until next time….

So all I’ve really been doing since last we spoke is trying to hack into this thing (the MacBook). Seriously, I’ve been trying to see if I can upset the operating system. I’ve opened mail that I know would infect my PC and it let me! My PC would warn me prior to opening but not the Mac, it just opened the virus riddled e-mail right up! Ha, I’ve got you know! But I got nothing, so I give up and I’ll admit this - it would seem that the Mac has a much more stable operating system.
Then I decided to start fooling around with applications. First up syncing my blackberry via Bluetooth so I pull out my trusty Acer Laptop (really good machine BTW) and gave it a go. After about 30 minutes of trying to make it work I got frustrated and gave up. Next up - The MacBook, I fired the signal from my Blackberry and within seconds it’s talking to the MacBook and about a minute later done. The funny thing was, I really didn’t do anything, it was effortless, it actually felt like I was getting away with something it was so easy. Hmmm, is it really supposed to be that simple? I couldn’t believe it so I called the guys at Optima and asked, “is it really that simple?”, They’re response - “yes”. Okay, I have to admit I’m not used to things going that easily when loading applications, but this trial has just begun and after the first round (let’s call it the Bluetooth round) here’s your score MacBook 1, PC laptop 0.

Okay, so here I am in day two of the Fish PC - MAC conversation and I’m still getting used to the way everything on MAC navigates. The overall look and feel of the machine is great, I do like the keyboard on the MAC more than my PC Laptop. I found this little bitty camera in the top of the screen (see picture), well needless to say this has got my wife very happy, turns out that we can chat with the grandbaby.
So I’ll take the Macbook down to Optima on Main Street and they’ll help me get all hooked up. But for now the jury is still out - but then, the trial just began.

Hi this is Fish from WKVT, a hardened PC addict. I like Windows, I like Windows-based systems and applications and at this point I’m too old to change! Yet the New Optima on Main Street said, “Hey Fish, shut-up and try this.” Then they handed me the new MACBOOK and told me to give it a go. Their challenge to me is to get me hooked on MAC... We’ll see guys, we’ll see.
